Finally, it appears a creditable competitor to the Galaxy Note’s phablet throne may be on the way. HTC Source reported a two days ago that they had a reliable source confirming the specs of an upcoming 5-inch jumbo smartphone from HTC. Now, more information have emerged in the form of what looks like an formal promo shot of the new phablet, which is it seems that called the HTC One X5.

As for the leaked specs in question, various of them areAttractiveimpressive, and some of them really aren’t. First, the impressive ones: the One X5 will have a 5-inch, 1080p display with a gargantuan 480 ppi. That’s by far the maximumpixel density on the market right now, and will surely look awsome. It also has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, which should perform at a similar level to the Galaxy Note II’s quad-core Exynos processor.

Now for the not so impressive part: It only has 16GB of internal memory, with no microSD slot. There’s really no exonerate for a device this big not having a microSD slot, and this is a appealing big turn-off, exceptionally when only a meagre 16GB of internal storage is offered. It also won’t have a removable battery cover, which is always aggravating.

Despite these shortcomings, the display alone may be enough to make this phablet a viable option for many people. It will also only have 1.5GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Note II has 2GB. We expect both devices to arrive in time for the holidays, so we could see a good-looking fierce head-to-head phablet battle this Christmas.
