Apple hoped to bring the world by storm this week with the make availableof iOS 6 and  the launch of the iPhone 5. Although the iPhone 5 still has yet to debut, the rollout of iOS 6 has been tarnished by complaints regardingApple’s new Maps application.

In case you’ve missed the flurry of  criticism, the Cupertino company dropped Google-based Maps from its most recent version of iOS and replaced it with its own version. The Apple-based Maps application lacks street-level details, has glaring errors and is missing key features found in Google Maps. According to a declaration provided to AllThingsD, Apple responded to these complaints by claiming it is only getting started with Maps.

“Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new featuresTogether with Apple Maps, our first map advantage. We are excited to offer this advantage with innovative latest features like Flyover, turn by turn direction-finding, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service calculating it is a main initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, theImprovedit will get. We appreciate all of the customer opinion and are working hard to make the purchaser understanding even better.

” Though it is little consolation to customers who are unhappy with Apple’s mapping solution, ATD’s John Paczkowski was told that Apple’s Map team “is under lockdown right now working to fix it [Maps].”
